FIBRA Macquarie´s commitment to the environment is reflected in the lighting replacement program. We now have LED lighting in the common areas of most of our retail shopping centers, reducing energy consumption by 40%.
In the industrial portfolio, we have installed energy-efficient T5, T8 or LED lighting, reducing our customers’ energy consumption. In addition, we have an ongoing skylight program through which we have installed new skylights and upgraded existing ones across the portfolio. This further reduces energy requirements by allowing our customers to operate using natural light.
The Macquarie Group Foundation works on a range of initiatives to build the sustainability of non-profit organizations. These include assisting with growth strategies, sharing employee skills with the sector and supporting programs that make the sector more efficient. The Macquarie Group Foundation:
In Mexico City, FIBRA Macquarie staff partner with the Foundation to give back to the local community. After the tragic earthquakes in September 2017, FIBRA Macquarie staff worked with World Vision to support children in one of the worst-affected areas of Mexico City. The event provided an opportunity for staff to work with children who were affected by the events and whose schools and daycare centers had been damaged or destroyed. World Vision provided a safe space for children to recover from the events, resume their daily activities and get the support they required.
FIBRA Macquarie positively impacts the environment by reducing water consumption through the use of endemic species and efficient drip irrigation in the landscaping of its buildings. This reduces water consumption and aesthetically enhances the portfolio.
